Idina Menzel on ‘Frozen’ Sequel: ‘I Spoke Out of Turn’
Idina Menzel has disappointed young fans across the globe by insisting she “spoke out of turn” when she suggested Disney bosses are working on a sequel to popular kids blockbuster Frozen.
The musical theater star, who voiced Elsa in the film, sparked much excitement last year when she stated in an interview that a sequel is “in the works”.
However, Menzel has now clarified her comments and insisted Frozen will not be revived for a follow-up.
She tells Britain’s The Times newspaper, “Apparently I spoke out of turn. I just assumed because it was so successful there’d be a sequel…
“I think they’re working on (a stage show) but the Disney people keep things close to their chests.”
Frozen won two Academy Awards and became a huge commercial success following its release in 2013. It brought in more than $1.07 billion worldwide and became the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
