Joel Kinnaman Reportedly Set to Replace Tom Hardy in ‘Suicide Squad’
It seems that the role that’s been bounced around Hollywood may have finally found a safe place to land, as Joel Kinnaman has reportedly been tapped as Tom Hardy’s replacement in the Suicide Squad film.
Thewrap.com is reporting that multiple individuals with knowledge of the project have confirmed to them that Joel Kinnaman will replace Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg in the movie.
The role has bounced around from Hardy, to Jake Gyllenhaal and more recently, former The Walking Dead star Jon Bernthal, so hopefully now it’s with Kinnaman to stay.
The film, about a gang of comic book villains who are given the chance to redeem themselves, will be directed by David Ayer, who worked with Bernthal on recent war movie Fury.
If Kinnaman’s signed on, that means he’s now part of a star-studded cast which includes Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney and Cara Delevingne.
Meanwhile, reports suggest True Blood hunk and Sofia Vergara’s other half, Joe Manganiello, is wanted to fill the role of supervillain Deathstroke. No word on how close Joe is to signing on or not.
Suicide Squad is scheduled for a 2016 release.
