‘Chappie’ Star Hugh Jackman Cancels Remaining One-Man Show Dates

Hugh Jackman has been forced to cancel the remaining dates of his one-man show in Turkey due to a hemorrhage on his vocal chords.

The star took his hit Broadway show, An Evening With Hugh Jackman, to Istanbul on Tuesday night, for a scheduled four-night stint at the city’s Zorlu Center PSM, but Jackman took to Twitter.com on Wednesday to reveal that his doctors have ordered him rest his vocals due to an injured blood vessel.

He wrote, “Merhaba (hello). I have a left vocal hemorrhage. At advice of Dr. Kocak Dr Korovin I will cancel my shows in Turkey. Make no mistake, I’ll be back!”

Jackman, who was slated to end his short run on Friday, was especially looking forward to the string of shows because his great-grandfather once lived in Istanbul.

He told reporters before his first show on Tuesday, “My great-grandfather spent his life here working at a bank in Istanbul. My father always says, ‘You’re sort of part Turkish somewhere’. Maybe that’s why I love the coffee so much.”
