Mark Wahlberg Set to Produce Film on Boston Marathon Bombings

Massachusetts-born Mark Wahlberg is set to produce a movie based on the horrific 2013 Boston Marathon bombings.

Wahlberg will move behind the camera to make Patriots’ Day, a film based on the events surrounding the attacks which killed three and injured 264 others during the Boston Marathon in April, 2013.

The movie will be shot through the viewpoint of Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis, and Wahlberg is reportedly vying for the lead role as well as acting as producer.

Terry Press, president of CBS Films, which is backing the project, said in a statement, “There is nothing more compelling than a real story populated by real heroes. The team that we have assembled for this project is determined to give audiences a very personal look at what occurred during the days when the eyes of the world were on the city of Boston and how a group of contemporary patriots faced this crisis.”

We’ll keep you posted as more details surface.
