Are Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs engaged? According to T-Pain, they were! But not really. The media always falls for at least one celebrity April Fools’ Day prank, and this year it was rapper T-PAIN who stumped the press with a “slip up” in a Vulture.com interview about Pattinson and Twigs’ alleged engagement.

T-Pain left reporter Dee Lockett stunned when he told her his friend had secretly accepted the Twilight star’s proposal, and she ran with the gag, sparking a media frenzy on Wednesday.

The rapper confessed he was struggling to secure studio time with FKA Twigs, stating, “We met in the studio. Her music’s changed a lot since then. But she’s on tour so much, and anytime I call her, she’s in a different place. And she’s engaged now, so that’s about to be a whole other thing… to ol’ Patty (Pattinson). I don’t know if she wanted anybody to know that…”

But hours after the engagement gossip became big news, T-Pain revealed it was just a joke.

He took to his Instagram account and wrote: “Added a little #AprilFools to my interview with Vulture Magazine today. Check it out!!!!” He also posted a photo of two engagement rings.

The couple, which has strived to keep their relationship low-key, only went public with its romance last summer after Pattinson’s 2013 split from his Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart.
