Disney Creating Live-Action ‘Winnie The Pooh’

Disney studio bosses are bringing another popular children’s character to life in a planned live-action Winnie the Pooh.

Director Alex Ross Perry has been tapped to pen the new adaptation, which will feature Winnie the Pooh’s human friend Christopher Robin returning to the bear’s hangout spot in the Hundred Acre Wood as an adult, reports

The beloved character, created by author A. A. Milne in the 1920s, last hit the big screen in 2011 with the release of the animated adventure comedy Winnie the Pooh, which featured John Cleese as narrator and Jim Cummings as the voice of the titular bear.

The Perry project will be the first live-action version in the franchise.

It’s the latest children’s story to be given the live-action treatment – on Monday, Disney executives announced plans to remake Mulan, while the studio has already scored box office hits with the retelling of movies such as Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent and the most recent release, Cinderella, which has raked in more than $336 million since its release early last month.
