George R.R. Martin Developing ‘Captain Cosmos’ for HBO

The man who brought us Game of Thrones is working with HBO to develop a new TV series, Captain Cosmos.

As if George R.R. Martin wasn’t busy enough, currently working on completing the sixth installment of his Song of Ice and Fire series, titled The Winds of Winter, the author has signed on to bring a new project to the network that’s responsible for turning his books into a hit TV series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new show, tentatively titled Captain Cosmos, “centers on a young science fiction writer living in 1949 at the dawn of the age of TV. The writer spends his time penning stories no one else would dare to write.”

Don’t worry book series fans. Martin’s involvement in the new TV series will not further delay the release of the next chapter in the ASOIF series… at least that’s what they’re saying for the time being.

In the meantime, make sure you don’t miss the season five premiere of Game of Thrones, on HBO this Sunday April 12 at 9pm.
