‘American Crime Story’ Casts Kenneth Choi as Judge Lance Ito

Kenneth Choi has joined the cast of Ryan Murphy’s new FX series, American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson.

The actor will play Judge Lance Ito, who presided over O.J. Simpson’s murder trial and whom most remember for making the historical decision to allow cameras in the courtroom, turning it into a media circus.

The miniseries, based on the book The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson by Jeffrey Toobin, takes a look at the O.J. Simpson trial told from the perspective of the lawyers. The show will explore the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, and how a combination of prosecution overconfidence, defense shrewdness, and the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.

Also starring in the series are Oscar winner Cuba Gooding, Jr. as Simpson, AHS alum Sarah Paulson as prosecutor Marcia Clark, Courtney B. Vance as Simpson’s lawyer Johnnie Cochran, John Travolta as Robert Shapiro, and former Friends star David Schwimmer, who will take on the roll of Simpson’s late friend and attorney, Robert Kardashian and Sterling K. Brown as Christopher Darden.

There’s no premiere date set for the show at the moment.
