‘Shadowhunters’ Casts Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray

ABC Family’s TV series Shadowhunters, based on the Mortal Instruments books, has found its Clary Fray.

Katherine McNamara has landed the role of the 18-year-old who finds out that she is not who she thinks she is and that she in fact, she comes from a long line of Shadowhunters or human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons.

According to the network, the TV series will follow the story of Clary as she’s thrown into the world of demon hunting after her mother Jocelyn is kidnapped. She travels with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace and her best friend Simon, and living among faeries, warlocks, vampires and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold.

McNamara was recently seen starring in MTV’s now-cancelled drama Happyland, feature film New Year’s Eve and will be seen next in the feature film Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials and this summer on ABC Family’s hit series The Fosters.

The young actress joins cast members Dominic Sherwood as Jace, Alberto Rosende as Simon and Emeraude Toubia as Isabelle.
