New ‘Dope’ Trailer Is All About Being Yourself
A new trailer for the highly-anticipated, upcoming indie comedy Dope is set perfectly to the tune of Kendrick Lamar’s “i” and gives fans a new glimpse into the film.
The latest movie from Rick Famuyiwa (The Wood, Brown Sugar, Our Family Wedding) has been earning rave reviews since this year’s Sundance Film Festival and we’ll probably be seeing a lot more of the young talented cast in the future (co-star Tony Revolori recently starred in Wes Anderson’s Academy Award winning film The Grand Budapest Hotel).
The movie follows Malcolm (Shameik Moore), a self proclaimed geek who is carefully surviving life in a tough neighborhood in Los Angeles while juggling college applications, academic interviews, and the SAT. A chance invitation to an underground party leads him into an adventure that could allow him to go from being a geek, to being dope, to ultimately being himself.
Check out the new trailer, which debuted exclusively over at BET, below:
Dope stars Shameik Moore, Zoe Kravitz, Kiersy Clemons, Forest Whitaker, Keith Stanfield, Tony Revolori, Blake Anderson, A$AP Rocky and Chanel Iman.
You can catch the coming of age film when it hits theaters June 19th.
We’re excited about checking this film out! Are you?
