NBC Renewals and Cancellations: Learn the Fates of ‘Constantine’, ‘The Night Shift’ and More

NBC’s upfront presentation isn’t until Monday May 11th, but we already know the fate of some of the network’s series’.

The Blacklist, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Grimm and Law & Order: SVU have all been renewed for a new season at the network.

The cancellation list is much longer than the renewal list, take from that what you will. A to Z, The Slap, Bad Judge, Allegiance, State of Affairs, Marry Me and About a Boy won’t be returning to the network.

Atlanta-filmed Constantine has been on the fence all season and we now know it’s officially been cancelled by NBC, but is still being shopped around.

Shows that the network haven’t given word on yet are AD: The Bible Continues, American Odyssey and The Voice. Don’t worry The Voice fans, we’re pretty sure you’re safe.

NBC has also ordered some new series’ to fill the void left by the previously-mentioned canceled series’. Here’s a list of the new shows announced so far, along with their respective loglines:

Superstore
Logline: The single-cam comedy follows a group of employees at a big box store who quickly learn that there’s much more to their ho-hum jobs – like love, friendship, and the surprises of everyday moments – than they thought.

Crowded
Logline: The multi-generational family comedy follows recent empty-nesters when their two adult daughters move back home and everything backfires.

People are Talking
Logline: Two diverse couples who are both neighbors and best friends go through life side-by-side. They can’t help but analyze and obsess about everything. From topics like sex and race, to the fact that the trusted new babysitter might just be a porn star, nothing is out of bounds.

Blindspot
Logline: A beautiful woman, with no memories of her past, is found naked in Times Square with her body fully covered in intricate tattoos. Her discovery sets off a vast and complex mystery that immediately ignites the attention of the FBI who begin to follow the road map on her body to reveal a larger conspiracy of crime while bringing her closer to discovering the truth about her identity.

Heartbreaker
Logline: Inspired by the life of Dr. Kathy Magliato, the show is a medical soap that follows the outspoken Alex Panttiere, one of the rare female heart transplant surgeons. Alex brings an innovative eye to treating patients week to week while also balancing the complications of her professional and romantic life.

Chicago Med
Logline: The story revolves around the day-to-day chaos of the city’s most explosive hospital and the courageous team of doctors who hold it together. They will tackle unique new cases inspired by topical events, forging fiery relationships in the pulse-pounding pandemonium of the emergency room, and through it all, familiar faces from the Chicago police and fire departments will intertwine as this third team of Chicago heroes hits the ground running.
