‘The Vampire Diaries’ Will ‘Be Much More Focused on the Brothers’ Following Nina Dobrev’s Departure

Nina Dobrev may be leaving The Vampire Diaries, but in the time of fans wondering what’s in store for the show’s future, The CW is sticking with an age old showbiz adage…the show must go on.

Many fans wondered if or how the show would continue without the star and we know that it will, but we also now have an idea of what the show will look like sans Elena.

“It’s going to be much more focused on the brothers, Damon and Stefan, [with] a lot of places for both Kat Graham and Candice [Accola’s] characters to come out,” CW President Mark Pedowitz told reporters. “We believe that with Julie Plec at the helm and Caroline Dries running the show that we will have a show. Most of this year has been getting to the point where we could have a reset knowing that Nina was leaving, so they’ve done a great job. We’ll see.”

Dobrev recently chatted with E! host Maria Menounos about her departure saying, “I’ve said this before, that we didn’t break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn’t love or friendship…I love him and the friendship is still strong and I think he’s great and I care about him. And that didn’t change. Yes, we’re professional and that’s fine. We were friends long before we dated and we still are now.”

When we asked you guys whether or not you’d help the show go on after Nina, your answer surprised us. I guess we’ll see what happens when the show returns in the fall.

In the meantime, head on over to our poll and let us know which Salvatore brother you’d want Elena to end up with.
