‘The Walking Dead’ Adds ‘Straight Outta Compton’ Star Corey Hawkins

The Walking Dead has cast Straight Outta Compton star Corey Hawkins in a new key role for the show’s upcoming sixth season.

Thanks to an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter, we know that Corey will play Heath, “a key member of the Alexandria Safe Zone. The character, an eventual Alexandria supply runner, friend to Glenn and love interest to Denise, is first introduced in issue 69 of Robert Kirkman’s comic series.”

This means that if the “add a new black guy character/kill off an old black guy character” theories are true, we can probably expect to see Father Gabriel bite the big one this season, with Heath being his replacement. (We’d love to know what you think of those theories in the comments below, by the way.)

If you want to see some of Corey’s work before his TWD premiere, look out for him in is role as Dr. Dre in the upcoming NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton, which hits theaters due in theaters Aug. 14.

Let us know what you think of Corey’s casting, what his addition to the show could mean for Rick and the gang and any other TWD theories you have in the comments below!
