ABC Family Greenlights New Thriller Pilot ‘Stay’

ABC Family has greenlit Stay, a new thriller pilot that, if successful could become the network’s next original series.

Stay follows the story of a recently widowed police detective and his two daughters who are stranded at a foreboding hotel. The family must work together and unravel the hotel’s mysteries in order to escape. Stay is written and executive produced by Spenser Cohen. Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure, Sorcerer’s Apprentice) will direct the pilot and also serve as Executive Producer, along with Anna Halberg.

Stay is an emotionally powerful story about a fractured family that comes back together under the most unexpected of circumstances,” said Karey Burke, Executive Vice President, Programming and Development, ABC Family in a statement. “Stay is a haunting and surprising ride that we are excited to bring to life.”

Described as an “edge-of-your-seat thriller,” Stay is the third pilot the network has ordered in the past two months, in addition to supernatural drama Beyond and comedy Gorgeous Morons. The plan is for ABC Family to double its original programming over the next four years.
