Patrick Schwarzenegger and Bella Thorne to Co-Star in YA Romance ‘Midnight Sun’

Patrick Schwarzenegger and Bella Thorne have been tapped to play the latest pair of star-crossed young adult romance lovers in the adaptation of Midnight Sun.

According to THR, “The film is based on the 2006 Japanese movie directed by Norihiro Koizumi that centers on a young woman who has a rare disease that forces her to stay indoors because the ultraviolet radiation of sunlight could kill her. She meets and begins to fall for a young man as they set off on a summer romance.” We’ll let you figure out who was cast as whom.

Midnight Sun will be directed by Scott Speer, who previously directed Step Up: Revolution and episodes of MTV’s drama Finding Carter.

If you want to see either young star in the meantime, you can catch Bella in a killer (and dare we say…short-lived) role in MTV’s Scream, premiering June 30th and Patrick in the upcoming horror comedy Scout’s Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, hitting theaters October 30th.

Let us know what you think of Patrick and Bella’s casting, and whether or not you’ll be checking out this ultraviolet-sensitive version of The Fault in Our Stars, in the comments below.
