‘Scream Queens’ Star Keke Palmer Talks ‘Brutal’ First Season

Scream Queens star Keke Palmer spilled some details about what fans can expect from the show during her trip to last weekend’s Essence Music Festival.

Palmer plays Zayday in the first season of the anthology series that will follow a group of college students as they try to stay alive and Entertainment Weekly caught up with her after her Essence Festival Empowerment

“Usually he’s on FX: Is he still gonna be able to go as brutal as he has been before now that it’s on Fox?” Keke Palmer told EW on Saturday.

“Actually, he is,” she says. “I think that he is keeping that same, heightened, extreme grounded-ness. How he does it, I have no idea. But that is very much so a part of Scream Queens. And also, the comedy. He finds the balance in light of the dark. It’s fun to play.”

She also revealed that she’s a fan of Murphy’s American Horror Story work and has wanted to work with him since the show’s first season, ‘Murder House’.

“I loved season one, and I was like: ‘If I ever got a chance to work with this guy, it would be so cool and fun,'” she said Palmer. “Because he’s so creative! That’s what you want as an actor: to be pushed.

The star studded cast for the new FOX series includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Skyler Samuels, Ariana Grande, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer, Nick Jonas and more, and from what we can tell, none of them are safe from meeting a bloody demise.
