Is ‘Dead 7’ Syfy’s Next ‘Sharknado’?

What do you get when you cross members of N*Sync with members of The Backstreet Boys? A new Syfy movie apparently.

Dead 7 is a new Syfy original film that’s currently in the works and is a collaborative effort between the members of both bands. The movies will be written and directed by BSB’s Nick Carter, who will also star alongside wife Lauren Kitt. Bandmate AJ McLean will join him, as will NSYNC’s Joey Fatone.

“Dead 7 is the story of a ragtag band of gunslingers who must rid a small town of a zombie plague in a post-apocalyptic West,” according to a press release. “Carter will play Jack, the reluctant hero who unites the outlaws to face the zombie menace.”

Carter is even campaigning for One Direction’s Niall Horan to join the cast and would love to have Rob Zombie direct:

So does Dead 7 have what it takes to be the next so-bad-it’s-entertaining Syfy mockbuster? Well, seeing how the studio that produced Sharknado, The Asylum, is in charge of this one as well, all signs point to yes.
