Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert Call It Quits

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert shocked their fans today by announcing that they are divorcing after four years of marriage.

The couple announced the news today, issuing a statement to the Associated Press.

“This is not the future we envisioned,” the former couple said in a statement given to AP.

“And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”

The couple met in 2005 at CMT’s 100 Greatest Duets Concert, but didn’t begin dating until 2006, after Shelton was divorced from his first wife. The two wed in 20011.

Of their relationship, Lambert previously told Marie Claire, the two were the “”perfect match” saying, “I’m not sunshine and roses. Blake’s the happiest person on the planet. He pulls me out of my darkness… Literally, everything is the best about being married.”

Rumors surrounding Lambert and Shelton hinted at marital issues, but nothing concrete ever came from them.
