‘Game of Thrones’ Writer Working on Live-Action ‘Sword in the Stone’ Adaptation

If there’s anything that Disney has taught us over this past year, it’s that all of their animated movies are up for grabs when it comes to receiving the live-action treatment, the latest to receive it being Sword in the Stone.

Hopefully the upcoming adaptation won’t prove too bloody or violent, because Bryan Cogman, a writer/producer for the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, is penning the script.

Cogman tweeted this today as well, further confirming his involvement in the film:

The original 1963 animated movie was the last released before Walt Disney’s death, and told the story of young King Arthur as he finds his way to his throne.

The film will be produced by Brigham Taylor, who has produced films such as Tomorrowland and the yet-to-be-released Jungle Book (Jon Favreau version) and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

So far, live-action versions of Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson; the aforementioned version of The Jungle Book; Mulan; Tim Burton-helmed Dumbo; Winnie the Pooh; Reese Witherspoon’s Tinker Bell; Fantasia; and an Aladdin prequel, Genies, are all in the works.

Get ready to experience your childhood all over again!
