Prepare to Return to ‘Jurassic World’ in 2018

You didn’t think we’d seen the last of Jurassic World after such a huge summer opening did you?

Universal announced today that another chapter of the outrageously successful film, which is now the number 3 movie of all time behind Avatar ($2.788 billion) and Titanic ($2.186 billion), will head to theaters in 2018. With numbers like those we aren’t at all surprised, but can’t wait to see what story the next installment will tell.

Fans will also be glad to hear that Jurassic World‘s stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are both on board to return in the next film, along with Jurassic World writer/director Colin Trevorrow and writer Derek Connolly, both of whom will write the sequel as well. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Trevorrow isn’t expected to direct the next installment, but there’s no word on who might at the moment.

The film pulled in a whopping $614.3 million domestically, while overseas the film has raked in $907.3 million.

The Jurassic World sequel is currently scheduled to be released on Friday, June 22, 2018.

What would you like to see happen in the next film? Who do you think should direct? We’d love to hear some ideas in the comments below!
