‘Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp’ Featurette: ‘Everyone Looks Like They’re Playing Their Own Parents’

The Camp Firewood counselors are back to bring a summer of laughs, teen drama and self-discovery to fans everywhere in Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp…even if they are all adults.

In the new featurette, we hear H. Jon Benjamin tell us that “Camp Firewood is more than just a summer camp. Camp Firewood is an idea. A promise. A way of life,” a statement that’s proven by the return of all of the film’s original cast members.

OCs Paul Rudd and Bradley Cooper enjoyed their time back on the WHAS set, being able to take a trip down memory lane. “This is our first day of shooting and we’re kind of walking around saying ‘This is crazy’,” said Rudd in disbelief, while Cooper just couldn’t get over Rudd not aging at all. “Paul Rudd looks exactly the same.”

Amy Poehler is also returning and made jokes about the cast being back onboard to play the same roles that they took on in 2001. “Everyone looks like they’re playing their own parents.”

You can watch the full featurette below:

In addition to Rudd, Cooper, Benjamin and Poehler, all of the original’s favorite counselors and camp staff are back including Elizabeth Banks, Michael Ian Black, Janeane Garofalo, Nina Hellman, David Hyde Pierce, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, AD Miles, Christopher Meloni, Marguerite Moreau, Zak Orth, Marisa Ryan, Molly Shannon and Michael Showalter, along with some new famous faces.

Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp will be available this Friday, July 31st, at 12:01am PT only on Netflix.
