‘True Detective’ Star Rachel McAdams In Talks for ‘Doctor Strange’ Role

Rachel McAdams could be the latest Hollywood star to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, if she lands the role of the female lead in Doctor Strange.

The actress revealed she’s been in conversation with Marvel about the mystery role, and Variety reports that she’s the company’s number one choice for the part.

Telling the LA Times, McAdams says “it’s still super-early days, and I don’t know where that’s gonna go, if it’s gonna go anywhere at all.”

The film will follow the story of Doctor Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers a hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions and goes from neurosurgeon to Sorcerer Supreme.

Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor are also on board to co-star as the Ancient One and Baron Mordo, respectively. Jon Spaihts is writing the screenplay and Scott Derrickson is directing the comicbook movie.

McAdams is currently co-starring in True Detective‘s second season as Detective Ani Bezzerides and has the newly released flick Southpaw, co-starring Jake Gyllenhaal, which hit theaters last Friday.

You can catch Doctor Strange when the film hits theaters November 4, 2016.
