Chris Pine Officially Signs On as ‘Wonder Woman’ Love Interest

Chris Pine has officially signed on to star opposite Gal Gadot in the upcoming Wonder Woman film.

Rumors of Pine’s involvement began swirling towards the end of May, but The Wrap has learned that Pine’s role as Steve Trevor is now signed, sealed and delivered.

According to the site, “Steve Trevor will be no mere love interest for Gadot’s Diana Prince, as there will be plenty of action to keep him busy, though plot details remain under wraps.”

Wonder Woman will be directed by Patty Jenkins, who signed on to replace Michelle MacLaren last month. MacLaren exited the project due to creative differences. Jenkins was previously tapped to direct Thor 2 for Marvel Studios, but will now become the first female director to helm a film of this size in Warner’s DC universe.

If you want more Pine in the meantime, look out for him to appear in Netflix’s Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp and Craig Zobel’s Z for Zachariah. He’s also currently filming Justin Lin’s Star Trek Beyond.

Wonder Woman will be introduced in next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice before her solo movie hits theaters on June 23, 2017.
