‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Finds Its New Captain – Bill Hader!

In the Brooklyn Nine-Nine season two finale, Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) was forced to leave the squad by nemesis Deputy Chief Wunch (Kyra Sedgwick) to a desk position in NYPD’s public relations department, leaving Detective Peralta (Andy Samberg) & gang waiting for their new, unknown captain.

It has been revealed that the precinct’s captain position will be (likely temporarily) filled by SNL alum (and Tulsa native, I have to thrown that in!) Bill Hader. Hader’s precinct captain will be introduced in the season three opener and all we know about him so far is that he will be “efficient.” The character won’t be a permanent replacement for Holt, however, which means Holt will likely return at some point. Currently FOX is not revealing how long Hader will guest star on the series so it could be for only the premiere episode or it could be several episodes before the crew finds a way to bring back Captain Holt.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a comedy series set in the fictional 99th Precinct of the New York City Police Department in Brooklyn. The single-camera series follows a precinct team of detectives and a newly appointed captain.

Season three of Brooklyn Nine-Nine premieres on Sunday, September 27.
