‘Empire’ Promotes Serayah to Series Regular

Empire‘s Hakeem Lyon could be in for some long-term trouble now that Serayah, who portrays Keem’s pop star ex-girlfriend Tiana, has been bumped up to series regular status.

During the show’s first season, Tiana and Keem were the ‘It Couple’ of the moment, until Tiana discovered Hakeem’s affair with the much older Camilla Marks. Tiana remains signed to Empire, under Cookie’s management, but we’ll have to wait see whether or note she and Hakeem will be heating up again in the upcoming season.

Gabourey Sidibe and Ta’Rhonda Jones, who play Empire Records rulers Lucious and Cookie Lyons’ respective assistants Becky and Porsha, received similar promotions back in April.

The show’s second season has some impressive new talent lined up as well, including Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, Adam Rodriguez, Ne-Yo, Kelly Rowland, Becky G and Ludacris.

Co-creator Danny Strong previously promised that the drama would be taken up a notch when the show returns saying, “Season 1 was who will inherit the throne. Season 2 is warring kingdoms.”
