‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Star Kim Dickens Almost Passed on Auditioning for Series

Fear The Walking Dead is cable’s hottest new TV show, but one of its stars, Kim Dickens, admits that she had some reservations about signing on in the beginning.

Dickens plays Madison, the widowed mother of Nick (Frank Dillane) and Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and girlfriend of Travis (Cliff Curtis), who is having a hard enough time keeping her family from falling apart, but must now face the prospect of the world falling apart as well.

Dickens’ fame will, without a doubt, reach new heights because of her involvement in the series, but in a recent interview, the actress admitted that she was pretty hesitant about auditioning for the part in the first place.

“It’s a totally new genre for me,” she told Entertainment Weekly during an interview. “When I first was presented with the option to audition, I thought, ‘I don’t fit in there.’ And then I read the script and was like, ‘That’s an amazing character. But still, I don’t know.’ And then finally it just became this much more universal story than just an apocalypse, and that’s what I responded to.”

To find out what else Kim had to say about being a member of the cast of the most watched cable premiere in history, including how she totally doesn’t regret auditioning now, head on over to EW.com.
