‘Order of the Phoenix’ First Potter Movie to Not Make Profit

While the Harry Potter franchise has been a money making juggernaut, it appears as if ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ has become the first of the series to lose money for Warner Bros. ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ made over $938 million at the worldwide box office, but after distribution fees, advertising fees, hidden production costs and the fact that Warner has paid $57 million in interest on the $400 million they borrowed to produce the film, the film is still in the red. As of this time, the film is $167 million away from making its money back for Warner Bros.
