‘Once Upon a Time’ Bosses Want Season 5 LBGTQ Love Story

The Once Upon a Time bosses have revealed that they not only are all for including an LBGTQ storyline in the show, but they want to do it soon!

Creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz spoke out about the possibility of an LBGTQ love story during a OUAT season 5 Q&A in Los Angeles today.

“I would say that we know [the LBGTQ] community are big supporters of the show and we’d love to be able to tell a love story that reflect that,” said Kitsis when asked about the possibility of a Mulan (Jamie Chung)/Aurora (Sarah Bolger) relationship by press.

Horowitz also chimed in, “We want the show to reflect the world as it is now. Whether that’s going to be with any particular character we’re not going to say, and it’s something we want to do this year. It’s something we think is very important to do on the show, because this is the world we live in.”

This is exciting news for fans, especially on the heels of learning that Mulan will return in the upcoming season, possibly for the entire season. The warrior princess had been MIA from the show ever since season three, when she realized that the future she wanted with Aurora (Sarah Bolger) wasn’t going to happen (when we last left Aurora she was engaged and preggo with Prince Philip’s [Julian Morris] eggo).

Mulan ended up running off with Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) and his band of Merry Men, and that was the last we saw of her character.

Now Mulan/Aurora ‘shippers can have some hope of their favorite princesses pairing up when the show returns (although we haven’t gotten any official word that Aurora will be returning…yet).

Once Upon a Time returns to ABC Sunday, September 27 at 8pm ET/PT.
