MTV Debuts New ‘The Shannara Chronicles’ Trailer at 2015 New York Comic Con

MTV premiered a new look at their upcoming fantasy series The Shannara Chronicles for fans that attended New York Comic Con over the weekend.

The epic television event is based on Terry Brooks’ best-selling fantasy book series
which is set thousands of years in the future and follows three heroes, Elf-Human hybrid Wil (Austin Butler), Elvin Princess Amberle (Poppy Drayton), and Human Rover Eretria (Ivana Baquero), as they embark on a quest to stop an evil Demon army from destroying the Four Lands.

The show also stars genre favorites John Rhys-Davies (Lord of the Rings) and Manu Bennett (Spartacus).

The new trailer gives fans a better understanding of the story that the heroes will find themselves wrapped up in, with the Elvin Princess being the key to saving everyone. There’s lots of cool imagery in the new promo, including some pretty gnarly looking demons and beautiful landscapes. The series itself looks like it’s aiming to snag those Game of Thrones fans that are looking to fill the gap until the HBO series returns. We’ll let you decide whether or not you think it will.

Take a look at the trailer below:

The Shannara Chronicles gets a a special, two-hour premiere on Tuesday, January 5 at 10:00 PM ET/PT immediately following the return of MTV hit series Teen Wolf at 9:00 PM ET/PT.
