‘Supernatural’ Star Jared Padalecki on Why He ‘Can’t Wait to See’ Impala-Centric Episode
Supernatural has always been about the bond of the Winchester brothers, Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki), but tonight, the third family member that has always been in the background will get its time to shine.
The ’67 Chevrolet Impala, lovingly known as ‘Baby’ to Dean, is the star of tonight’s episode of Supernatural, giving fans a perspective of the show that they’ve never seen before.
The episode was new territory for the cast and crew as well star Jared Padalecki admits. “When I read the script, I was like, ‘We never see the boys do this stuff. I can’t wait to see it,’” he told TV Line during a visit to the show’s Vancouver set. “That should be something we do more often. We usually have the come-to-God [moment] in the middle of this library or something… But what a cool glimpse into the Winchesters and how they travel. We’re not getting a motel every night. It’s going to be, ‘Hey, don’t want to waste the money, crash in the car and wake up and head out.’”
“A lot of stuff, I think, caught us off guard,” the actor added. “But we just rolled with the punches and a little bit of improving” — such as the boys singing a classic tune! — “which is always fun.”
The Impala-focused episode of Supernatural, “Baby”, airs tonight at 9 p.m. on The CW.
