ABC Family has ordered two new scripted drama to series, Guilt and Beyond both of which will premiere after the network’s Freeform rebranding.
The network announced that both dramas were picked-up today, keeping in line with their promise to include more original programming on the network.
“These two shows are an exciting part of our evolution into Freeform,” said Karey Burke, Executive Vice President, Programming and Development, ABC Family in a statement. “Guilt is a sexy, sophisticated event series whose European location feels bigger than anything we have ever done. Beyond introduces our audience to a new hero and takes them into a complex supernatural universe with great suspense and deep emotion.”
You can read detailed descriptions of both new shows, as well as view the first pieces of promo art for the series’, below (via ABC Family):
Guilt is a one-hour soapy drama about a young American woman in London who becomes the prime suspect in the savage murder of her roommate. As the investigation unfolds, viewers will question whether she’s a naïve, young girl whose poor decisions are being magnified under the ruthless glare of the British tabloids, or whether she’s a sociopath who brutally murdered her friend. Even her sister, who comes to London to defend her, will question how well she knows her little sister as more and more ugly truths come out. This mystery will twist through all layers of London society – from a posh but depraved sex club, all the way up to the Royal Family itself. “Guilt” is written, created and executive-produced by Kathryn Price (“The Game Plan”) and Nichole Millard (“The Game Plan”). Stephen McPherson will serve as executive producer. “Guilt” is a co-production of Sea to Sky Entertainment (the joint venture between Lionsgate Television and Thunderbird Films) and BV Family Productions in association with ABC Family. Gary Fleder (“Kingdom,” “Scorpion”) directed the pilot.
Beyond is a one-hour drama about a young man who wakes up from a coma after 12 years and discovers new supernatural abilities that propel him into the middle of a dangerous conspiracy. From Imperative Entertainment and Automatik, “Beyond” is created, written and executive produced by Adam Nussdorf (“Once Upon a Time in Wonderland”). Tim Kring (“Heroes”), Zak Kadison, Justin Levy and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones will serve as Executive Producers. Lee Toland Krieger (“The Age of Adaline”) directed the pilot.
Look out for both shows to premiere in 2016, when ABC Family becomes Freeform.
