Worlds of Puppetry Museum Hosts World’s Most Comprehensive Collection of Jim Henson Puppets

Center for Puppetry Arts

Last week, we had the chance to check out the preview of the Center for Puppetry Arts’ Worlds of Puppetry Museum. The new exhibit showcases the world’s most comprehensive collection of Jim Henson puppets and artifacts in one half, and in the second half there’s a sizable collection of puppets from across the world.

Being a massive fan of the Muppets, seeing the Jim Henson exhibit was my #1 priority. Members of the Center as well as members of the press had a chance to preview the collections last week, and as we entered – I was almost in tears with my excitement. Walking through the collection was like growing up again. From Jim Henson’s early work and getting to see the foundation and evolution of his characters from the beginning through Sesame Street through the Muppets through Dark Crystal, Fraggle Rock and even Labyrinth – it was an incredibly thorough journey of Henson’s career.

And here’s a little sneak peek at what fellow pop culture junkies may love in the second half of the museum!

Beyond just the characters that visitors will know and love, there’s also an incredible collection of puppets from across the globe.

Overall, it was an incredibly fun outing for myself and FanBolt’s associate editor, Jasmine. We found ourselves nerding out and taking a number of selfies with our favorite puppets. I hadn’t been to the Center for Puppetry Arts since I was in elementary school, but I was more than thrilled to return and see that it still held just as much excitement and joy for me now as it did when I was kid! We highly recommend checking out the Worlds of Puppetry Museum!
