Jason Momoa to Star in New Netflix Adventure Drama ‘Frontier’

Jason Momoa is the latest star to dip his toe into Netflix’s pool of original programming, now that the network has ordered Frontier, a new adventure period drama starring the actor.

The network has ordered six episodes of the series, which will follow “the chaotic and violent struggle to control wealth and power in the North American fur trade in the late 18th century,” according to Variety. Frontiers is set in a world in which “business negotiations might be resolved with close-quarter hatchet fights, and where delicate relations between Native tribes and Europeans can spark bloody conflicts.”

The future Aquaman will star as trader Declan Harp, who is described as “ambitious, confident, charismatic and untamed man” who has a rep for being ruthless when it comes to the trade. He’s not the sort of man you should cross, seeing that’s he’s also “driven by lust and revenge.”

The series, which will be told from multiple perspectives, also stars also stars Netflix original series alum Landon Liboiron (Hemlock Grove), Alun Armstrong (Braveheart), and Zoe Boyle (Downton Abbey).

Frontiers will debut on Netflix in 2016.
