CBS Orders Additional ‘Supergirl’ Episodes

Supergirl

CBS has ordered 7 more episodes of their hit new superhero series Supergirl.

Fans can now look forward to a full 20 episode season of the series, making it the latest new CBS series that the network has ordered additional episodes (Life in Pieces, Limitless and Code Black all received additional episode orders as well).

The series, which stars Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh and Jeremy Jordan with David Harewood and Calista Flockhart, premiered on October 26th and currently averages 11.24 million viewers, 2.8/08 in adults 18-49 and 3.5/09 in adults 25-54. According to CBS, Supergirl has improved the year ago time period by +46% in viewers, +40% in adults 18-49 and +25% in adults 25-54.

Benoist, who plays Kara/Supergirl, has received overwhelmingly positive reviews on her portrayal of the superhero and is just as much of a fan of Supergirl as anyone who watches, continuing to learn more and more about her character each day.

“I’ve realized recently that she’s constantly questioning herself, constantly questioning the kind of hero she wants to be and what she wants to do, the kind of mark she wants to make on the world,” the actress recently said in an interview. “I think she really overestimates her abilities at this point because they’re not sharp; she’s a very dull blade right now. But I love that about her – I love that she’s running into walls now and then and charging at things like a rhino and being like ‘wait a second, I’ve got to take a step back and maybe do things a little differently.’ That’s what I’m figuring out right now.”

New episodes of Supergirl air Mondays at 8pm on CBS.
