‘Mystery Science Theater 3000’ Revival Adds Patton Oswalt

Patton-Oswalt

The Mystery Science Theater 3000 revival has added comedian Patton Oswalt to its cast.

The Kickstarter for the revival posted Patton’s casting announcement as part of their updates, revealing that he’ll play the Forrester’s newest Evil Henchman, TV’s Son of TV’s Frank.

“You know, the funny thing is that when we launched our Kickstarter, I hadn’t even approached Patton about being on MST3K… but I had thought a lot about getting him involved,” writes series creator Joel Hodgson on Oswalt’s casting.

Oswalt joins previously announced castmembers Hampton Yount and Baron Vaughn as the new Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo; and Felicia Day, who will play the newest mad Kinga, daughter of Dr. Clayton Forrester (her father Forrester sent Janitor Joel Robinson to Space in the original 1988-’99 show).

The revival was announced when its Kickstarter launched on November 10th. The $2 million goal has already been reached, so at least 3 new episodes of the series are on the way (the goal of 3,300,000 for 6 episodes is well on its way to being reached too).

The total goal, $5 million, promises to deliver “a full season of TWELVE” episodes to fans.
