Jennifer Lawrence Expected Amy Schumer to Win Golden Globe

Jennifer Lawrence fully expected Amy Schumer to take home the award for Best Musical/Comedy actress at the 2016 Golden Globes.

The two actresses are close friends and were both nominated for the award, with Lawrence getting a mention for Joy and Amy in the running for her movie Trainwreck. While Lawrence did win the award, and although she’d been widely tipped to take the statue, it came as something of a shock to the star herself.

“This year was Amy for me, she drew the map, she put herself on it, she showed us the map, so I was really rooting for Amy and I genuinely thought she was going to win,” Lawrence told Extra. “I really was actually really shocked.”

As well as being close pals, Jennifer and Amy are also working together. They have penned a script, with Lawrence confirming the first draft is completed and stating a little about the plot.

“We are sisters… that are estranged from our family… almost a borderline co-dependent relationship with each other,” she said. “So we are trying to reconcile our relationship with our brother and there’s a twist and you’re like, ‘Oh, damn.’”

News the pair were teaming up broke in August 2015, and Lawrence has admitted she was the driving force behind the project. She fell in love with Amy after watching her portrayal of a magazine journalist with a colorful love life in Trainwreck, and she decided to make it her mission to work with her.

“I reached out and everything just happened so quickly,” she previously told Entertainment Tonight. “We both have very similar senses of humor, obviously, and aren’t afraid, which is a good and bad thing, because I don’t know what our movie will be rated. And we’re both very blunt. So we’ve gotten through a really strenuous process without ever fighting, because we’re both very straightforward.”
