Sex And The City 2 Release Date

Carrie Bradshaw and friends have a summer date. A summer release date.

The Sex and the City big-screen sequel will hit theaters May 28, 2010, the box-office tracking firm Exhibitor Relations noted Wednesday.

The prime Memorial Day weekend slot positions Sex and the City 2 not only as a summer blockbuster, but as counterprogramming to the big-budget adventure Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, also set for May 28, 2010.

The romantic-comedy franchise at least has the blockbuster part down. Last year’s first Sex and the City movie, bringing a wide-angle lens to the 1998-2004 HBO series, grossed $415 million worldwide off a $65 million budget.

As reported in February by E! News’ Marc Malkin, all four Sex stars — Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon — are set and signed for the sequel, as is writer-director Michael Patrick King.
