Neflix Renews ‘Marvel’s Jessica Jones’ for Second Season
Netflix announced the renewal of Marvel’s Jessica Jones for season 2 at this weekend’s TCA (Television Critics Association) winter press tour! The new season will be comprised of 13 episodes, but we currently do not have a premiere date.
Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos was asked yesterday on a timeline for the premiere, and he revealed that The Defenders production will determine the start date for other Marvel series, including Marvel’s Daredevil, which will launch its second season on March 18.
Jessica Jones Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg hopes the series will return before The Defenders. She recently spoke toThe Hollywood Reporter saying, “There certainly is storytelling wise. The question becomes is there actual time? There are logistics involved, because Defenders has to shoot by a certain time, contractually. Actually, I’m not sure; I’m not at all involved in those conversations, much to my dismay.”
The first season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones is streaming on Netflix, and if you’ve not seen it yet, here’s a brief description for you.
Marvel’s Jessica Jones is a suspenseful, edgy look into the life of Jessica Jones, one of the most popular new Marvel characters of the last decade. After a tragic ending to her short-lived Super Hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a private investigator in New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood. Critics’ Choice award nominee Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) is joined by an amazing cast including David Tennant (Kilgrave), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Traval, among others. The series is executive produced by series showrunner Melissa Rosenberg (Twilight, Dexter) and Liz Friedman (Elementary), along with Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Daredevil, Lost, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
We’ll keep you posted as soon as season 2 premiere date for Marvel’s Jessica Jones is available!
