Emilia Clarke sensed great similarities between herself and the character she plays in upcoming film Me Before You.
Based on Jojo Moyes’ bestselling tearjerker, Clarke stars in the movie adaption as Louisa Clark, a woman hired to help take care of Will Traynor, a quadriplegic young man played by The Hunger Games‘ Sam Claflin. The drama follows the two as they fall in love and Louisa tries her hardest to draw Will out of his deep depression.
The British-born star was first sent the script when she was filming on the set of Terminator Genisys in 2015, the fifth film in the sci-borg series that saw her play Sarah Connor, and says she related to Louisa’s skittish nature from the start.
“I read it and it just… literally from the first chapter, I was like, ‘This is me! Oh my God, I’ve got to do it!’ Genuinely, never in my life, have I wanted a part more than this,” she told Total Film magazine.

The Games of Thrones star also sees parallels between Louisa and Bridget Jones, the famed 30-something accident-prone character portrayed by Renee Zellweger in silver screen adaptations.
“(Louisa) doesn’t quite think much of herself, doesn’t think before she speaks, doesn’t think before she acts, tends to fall and knock things over,” she said.
