Jackie Chan Confirms Karate Kid Remake

According to reports, Jackie Chan has officially joined the cast of Kung Fu Kid, which is the title for the remake of the Karate Kid. Chan will play the role of Mr. Miyagi, which was made famous by Pat Morita. Jaden Smith, the son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, will star in the main role that Ralph Machio played in the original films.

Filming began over the weekend in the Chinese capital of Beijing, and will be a Hollywood-Chinese co-production between Columbia Pictures and the state-run China Film Group. Before the filming started, Chan, and the entire Smith family attended what is described as a traditional Chinese ceremony to mark the start of the shoot. Will Smith is one of the producers for the film.

  1. I really liked the original “Karate Kid” and Pat Morita is amazing. I wasn’t interested in the remake before, but Jackie Chan is incredibly cool and seems like a nice guy, so I may see it after all.
