Willem Dafoe to join John Carter of Mars Cast
Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) has joined the cast of John Carter of Mars. The cast includes Taylor Kitsch (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) as John Carter and Lynn Collins (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) as the Princess of Mars. Dafoe will play the role of Tars Tarkas, a fierce green Martian warrior who’s unusual among his savage race for his ability to love.
The film will be a live-action adaptation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs sci-fi novel.
Andrew Stanton (WALL-E) is set to direct.
Wow, so they’ve resurrected the “John Carter of Mars” project. I remember when the guy who did “Sky Captain” was supposed to direct, and I certainly would have liked to see him get the chance. It does seem really strange that they’re getting someone who’s only directed animated films to helm it, but I’m sure it’ll have a ton of CGI in it, so maybe it’ll make sense.
