Celebrate Thanksgiving with New Free Apps from Macy’s!
The holiday season doesn’t officially kick off for us until Thanksgiving morning with the Macy’s Day Parade! There’s something about drinking coffee, getting food prepped for the family, and watching the parade make its way through New York City that just ushers in the holidays in the most amazing way.
This November actually marks the 90th anniversary of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade®, and Macy’s has something extra special in store for fans, they’re launching the Macy’s Time Traveler App ( Google Play | iOS ) and a set of emojis to help you celebrate one of the nation’s greatest traditions! So as you’re watching more than 3.5 million spectators line the streets of Manhattan from your cozy living room (or from your local Macy’s), you can not only enjoy all the amazing floats and balloons and the nations best performance groups and marching bands, you can also interact directly with the parade!
You can find and capture balloons in your local Macy’s stores through virtual reality, and you can make a customized parade of your own – as well as learn about the history of the parade (and even take a vintage selfie)! You can take a look at what the parade looked line in previous decades by putting yourself directly into Herald Square! See a fully rendered, 3D virtual reality environment that will allow you to see what the buildings actually looked like in the 30s, 60s, and 80s.
If you plan on being home and cozy in your pjs still while watching the parade, Macy’s also has a fun way for you to connect with your loved ones for family time even if they are far away. Macy’s Emojis app ( Google Play | iOS ) will keep your communications festive no matter the distance!
