Robert Downey Jr. May Be In ‘Harvey’

According to reports, the rumors of Robert Downey Jr. starring in the remake of ‘Harvey’ are closer than ever. The paper reports that Downey is waiting for a new draft of the script, and that it is not a done deal, but that “it looks strong” that he’ll be in. Downey would play the role of Elwood P. Dowd, a man who befriends a 6′ tall invisible rabbit. Both Tom Hanks and Will Smith were previously rumored for the role, which was originally played by James Stewart. Director Steven Spielberg wanted Downey for the role. The film is expected to be closer to the original 1944 play by Mary Chase, not the 1950 movie version.
