January 2017: Project Cosplay ‘Underworld’ Gallery

Underworld was our theme for FanBolt’s latest Project Cosplay! We had a twist for January – our judges became our designers, and our designers became our judges. We also introduced a physical test to the costumes – requiring that a lap around Joystick Gamebar be made in the designs. The results? Hilarious – but also personally satisfying for yours truly! (Took home the golden joystick in honor of FanBolt!)

For those of you not familiar with Project Cosplay, it’s an event (best described as a Project Runway spoof live design challenge) that FanBolt puts on once a month in Atlanta at Joystick Gamebar. Birthed in the ballrooms of OutlantaCon in 2010, Project Cosplay became an instant hit and soon made its way to numerous other conventions. Each month our host Candace Weslosky Miller from Lips Down On Dixie, inc. and Atlanta’s Rocky Horror Picture Show leads the teams of designers, models, judges, and the audience through a rather hilarious evening!
