Aykroyd Talks ‘Ghostbusters 3’
Dan Aykroyd was recently on a radio show today to promote his father’s new book and offered up some updates on ‘Ghostbusters 3.’
Aykroyd stated that ‘The Office’ screenwriters Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg are currently working on the script, and that Sony is enthusiastic about the project. Aykroyd did not say the project was something that will happen for sure, but he did say that it is closer to reality than it has ever been. Aykroyd had previously suggested that the film could shoot by the end of the year, but that no longer seems to be the case.
Aykroyd appeared on the show to promote his father’s book A History of Ghosts: The True Story of Seances, Mediums, Ghosts, and Ghostbusters. The book recounts ancestor Samuel Augustus Aykroyd’s ties to Spiritualism and the seances that went on at the family home in Canada. It was the paranormal family history that influenced Dan Aykroyd to script the 1984 classic.
