Tony Scott to Direct Chippendales Film

Tony Scott (The Taking of Pelham 123) has signed on to adapt the story of Chippendales founder Somen “Steve” Banerjee, who rose to fame in the 1980s following the success of his franchise. The film will be written by Lisa Schrager (The Lauren Schwartz Story: A Loser’s Saga), adapting a manuscript by Rodney Sheldon.

Banerjee reportedly went insane from fame after creating Chippendales and even went as far to hire an assassin to kill a choreographer. Banerjee was charged with racketeering, attempted arson, and murder for hire. he was found hanging in his cell before his sentencing was pronounced.
