Adam Cozad in Talks to Write ‘Suicide Squad 2’

Suicide Squad 2

Adam Cozad is in talks to write Suicide Squad 2.

The Legend of Tarzan screenwriter is reportedly being lined up to pen the script for the hotly-anticipated sequel to 2016 hit Suicide Squad, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The studio is naturally keen to get the ball rolling on the film following its box office success and whilst a director has yet to be announced, several names have been doing the rounds.

Mel Gibson has been linked to the movie but he has insisted it isn’t a “done deal” yet.

He shared: “I don’t know. I just met some guys about story points. It’s not a done deal or anything, but it’s just fun to shoot the pool, you know, when it comes to stories. I love doing it. And if we can elevate any type of concept, it’s good. We’ll see.”

It comes after David Ayer decided not to return for the sequel in favor of working and developing Gotham City Sirens, which follows the female villains in the DC Universe including Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie.

The original Suicide Squad movie followed the story of popular characters including The Joker (Jared Leto), Deadshot (Will Smith) and Enchantress (Cara Delevingne). The movie also featured appearances from Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis and Scott Eastwood.

And Jai Courtney previously poured cold water on the rumors fans could expect a Suicide Squad sooner than its rumored release date of 2019.

He shared: “Listen, they keep their cards very close to their chest. I actually have no idea, I pray the answer is yes. I certainly don’t feel like I’m done with that character. I had a lot of fun playing him, and I don’t feel like anyone is done with that franchise, certainly not yet. So, I hope so, sooner or later. The studio is very busy at the moment, director David Ayer is directing something else at the moment, but I’m sure they have plans, just none that they’ve shared with me.”
