Maguire Shoots Down ‘Hobbit’ Rumor

It was previously reported that Tobey Maguire was in talks to star as Bilbo Baggins in ‘The Hobbit’. Maguire addressed the issue and shot down the rumors saying, “I have not met with del Toro. We don’t have any near future plans. I don’t know if something got misconstrued or mis-communicated but the source was not accurate at all.”

Maguire added that last he heard, James McAvoy was cast in the lead role, though Peter Jackson has denied that McAvoy has been officially cast.

“I love Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson, and I certainly wouldn’t take myself out of the conversation … if I was part of it,” Maguire added. “But I haven’t read a script or talked to anybody about it.”
