How to Get Summer Holiday Ready

Summer Holiday

It’s almost here! That time of year when we can truly relax, take the weight off and enjoy the sun, sea and sand. It’s seems like a lifetime, waiting for your Summer holiday to start but it’s finally arrived. Now you only have a little time left to get prepared, and you’ll be forgiven if panic starts to set in. Getting ready for the perfect holiday isn’t always easy, but with these tips, you’ll think it is.

Work on Your Tan

It isn’t very fun showing up at your hotel looking whiter than Casper the ghost. Looking at all those sun-tanned bodies lounging by the pool can make you feel downright ill when you look in the mirror. If you’re worried about blending in, why not get a fake tan before you go? It can do wonders for your confidence but you do need to be careful. You don’t want to choose a brand that will make you darker arriving than when you leave. The point of getting a base tan is that you don’t really notice as your body develops a genuine tan.

Get Organized

It may be the boring part, but you’ll be thankful you’ve done it. It covers everything from parking at the airport to holiday insurance. These are things you really can’t skip on. You’ll need copies of your travel documents, your passport, foreign and domestic money and any necessary Visa’s. You can pick up a Visa at ESTA USA if you’re traveling to America. You’ll also need a doctor’s note if you require medication and be able to easily access your transfer confirmation, as that’s the first thing you’ll need once you’ve collected your baggage at your destination.

Shopping

Don’t leave packing until the last minute. You may find that your reliable bikini is now too small and you need to find a new one asap. Pull all of your Summer clothes out of your wardrobe and put everything you want to take to one side. It’ll then be easier to determine what you need to buy to take with you. After all, the less money you spend on clothes, the more you have for cocktails.

Pedicure

Our Winters seem longer and harsher, so our feet our usually wrapped up for longer. When you’re home among people who love you, the state of your toe nails doesn’t really bother you. You won’t feel the same when you’re on holiday. It’s likely that your feet will be on show the entire time you’re away, so you need to do them justice. A pedicure will ensure rough and dead skin is removed, your nails are filed and painted and you get the luxury of a foot massage at the same time.

Peace of Mind

While you’re away, you want to be able to focus completely on having fun and relaxing. You can’t do that if you’re worrying that you left the oven on or if your pets are okay without you. Before you leave for your holiday, make sure you organize things at home first. Ask someone to visit your home every few days to make sure everything is safe and locked. Put your pets into trusted kennels or home boarding and ask for updates while you’re away so you know they’re okay. If you’re worried here’s some tips on leaving your pets behind.

Learn the Language

If the country you’re traveling to isn’t English speaking, it’s worth learning a few words and phrases before you go. Knowing how to say please and thank you will get you a long way, but it’s also worth knowing how to ask where the toilet is or how to order your favorite meal. You will pick up on certain phrases as you travel and the hotel staff and locals are usually willing to teach.

Forget About Your Holiday Body

If you’re planning on starving yourself or doing excessive exercise before you go in an effort to get a better beach body, don’t. The last thing you want to do is injure yourself or make yourself ill, resulting in you having to cancel the trip. It’s just not worth it. People come in all shapes and sizes and you should own yours.

Plan Attractions

There are always things to see, wherever you go. Do your research and find out what the main attractions are in your destination. You could even call your hotel ahead of time and arrange a sightseeing tour so you don’t miss out on anything. It’s important to get a feel for the history and culture of the place you visit.
