Angela Bassett Joins ‘Green Lantern’

Academy Award nominee Angela Bassett (What’s Love Got to Do With It) has joined the cast of ‘Green Lantern’, in which she will play Dr. Amanda Waller.

Some have compared the Waller character with Marvel’s Nick Fury, who is being used in several Marvel superhero movies in order to keep the films tied together, because she is involved with several groups: the Suicide Squad (a team of former supervillains), Checkmate (a covert ops group) and Project Cadmus. She also worked as the Secretary of Metahuman Affairs when Lex Luthor was President. As of now there is no confirmation that the role will be a recurring one in the DC films.
